Your adventure begins with a thrilling gorilla trek in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where you’ll have the rare opportunity to observe endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. The trek leads you through dense rainforest and rugged terrain, and the experience of standing just meters away from these gentle giants is truly awe-inspiring.

From Bwindi, the journey continues to Queen Elizabeth National Park, known for its remarkable biodiversity. Here, you’ll encounter elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, hippos, and a wide variety of other wildlife. A boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel offers close-up views of some of the largest concentrations of hippos in the world, along with rich birdlife.

Your safari concludes in Kibale National Park, one of Africa’s premier destinations for chimpanzee tracking. As you explore the lush forest, you’ll observe these intelligent and lively primates up close while learning about their social behavior and unique characteristics.

Day by Day

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by your driver-guide and transferred for a brief pre-departure meeting. Thereafter, you will be dropped at your hotel to relax and prepare for the exciting safari ahead.

After breakfast, begin your journey to Kibale National Park, traveling through picturesque traditional villages and lush evergreen landscapes. You’ll pass Fort Portal and enjoy views of the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains before entering the Kibale region.

Kibale stands at 1,100–1,600 meters above sea level and features both montane and lowland forest. The park is home to 13 primate species, including chimpanzees, red colobus monkeys, and the rare L’Hoest’s monkey. It hosts 250 tree species, 325 bird species, 60 mammals, and 14 wild fields.

Upon arrival, visit the crater lakes region and enjoy views of terraced tea estates before heading to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking. By 8:00 am you will begin your trek, searching for chimpanzees—humans’ closest relatives, sharing 98% of our DNA.

Along the way, you may see other primates such as L’Hoest’s monkeys, golden monkeys, black-and-white colobus, red-tailed monkeys, mangabeys, and bush babies, as well as numerous bird species like the green-breasted pitta.

In the afternoon, visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, an excellent birding and primate hotspot. Expect sightings of the great blue turaco, baboons, otters, bush pigs, and various monkeys.

Following breakfast, you may enjoy a brief nature walk in Kibale Forest or proceed directly to Queen Elizabeth National Park, arriving around lunchtime. After checking in and relaxing, venture out for an afternoon game drive.

Expect to encounter elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, kobs, antelopes, and many bird species. Queen Elizabeth is renowned for its diverse wildlife and the Kazinga Channel, which links Lake George and Lake Edward.

Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Start the day early with a game drive along the Kasenyi Plains, a prime wildlife viewing area. Look out for lions, elephants, buffalo, kobs, and antelopes at close range.

Return to the lodge for breakfast and lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a scenic boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, famous for large populations of hippos, crocodiles, buffalo, and beautiful water birds such as pelicans, saddle-billed storks, and kingfishers.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, travel south through open savannah to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, passing through the Ishasha sector, famous for its unique tree-climbing lions.

Arrive at your lodge for lunch, followed by an afternoon nature walk or relaxed game viewing. Sightings may include antelopes, kobs, warthogs, waterbuck, elephants, and many bird species.

Enjoy an early breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking regulations. Rangers will guide you through dense forest in search of a gorilla family.

Tracking may take anywhere from 2 to 8 hours, depending on the location of the gorillas. Once found, you will spend a precious hour observing and photographing them from a safe distance of six meters.

After returning to the lodge for lunch, you may choose an optional visit to the Batwa community for cultural performances and storytelling.

After breakfast, begin your return journey to Entebbe. You’ll stop at the Equator for photos and lunch at the Igongo Cultural Centre, with an optional museum visit.

Arrive in Entebbe in the late afternoon, where your tour concludes.
